Discovering Orchid House

One of the biggest seaside towns on this stretch of coastline, Worthing is the perfect location for beach lovers with the plus of being able to head inland to the captivating landscape of the South Downs. Worthing offers the best of all worlds, with traditional bucket and spade holidays for the family, a mini-break for the weary urbanite, or a romantic getaway for two.

Worthing is also an eclectic and lively retail destination with plenty of entertainment and a burgeoning gastronomic scene down on the beach and hidden amongst the leafy avenues and seaside terraces. It's fair to say that Worthing's artisan producers and experimental businesses are causing a bit of a stir.

When it comes to the 'B' word in West Sussex (and we're talking bohemian here), you can't get more avant-garde than Oscar Wilde, a doyen of the literary scene and one of Worthing's most famous residents. He would whole-heartedly approve.

Nestled in the heart of West Worthing and just a short walk to the seafront is Orchid House, a truly distinctive destination venue for lovers of fine food and more.

Orchid House takes its inspiration from the flower of the same name, and just like the bloom, this new and exciting business combines undeniable charm and mystique. Orchid House would be a truly unique business anywhere, but in Worthing, it's fair to say, it's a real turn up for the books!

Run by a mother and daughter team, Ashley and Alex, Orchid House is their personal vision to offer the finest menus alongside the ultimate hospitality in a one-off venue with some truly distinctive features. Elegantly quirky, it's a tall order to blend grace with homeliness, but somehow, the 'A' team manages to achieve understated luxury blended with their own personal style.

Familiar yet Unusual Menus

The menus are undoubtedly stylish, different, and curiously original, with flair and flavours you just won't find anywhere else.

Afternoon tea is an Orchid House speciality with baked goods made using Shipton Mill organic flour and Rookery Farm organic eggs – you'll certainly be able to taste the difference.

For the savoury toothed, the “Sides Beside the Seaside” menu offers a tempting array of Cicchetti, Antipasti, Mezze, Charcuteries, and Cheeseboards, which are perfect sides to eat solo or to share.

Everything is freshly made using mostly organic produce either from Ashley and Alex's vertical micro-farm and garden, or as far as possible locally sourced and regular menu changes reflect seasonal flavours. We can't rule out a bit of foraging, either!

Menus include the science and art of fermentation, which is used to enhance flavours and something both chefs have a bit of a passion for.

Dine, Celebrate, Stay at the Orchid House

At Orchid House, it's not just about the food; it's also all about the venue and the hospitality, and should you choose to explore the South of England, there are some amazing and unique all-inclusive packages on offer to create a truly memorable experience.

Private hire is available for that special meal or celebration, a private business meeting or personal event in the secluded rustic garden chalet, which seats up to fourteen people or an elegant garden party under our beautiful arbour area which is heated for chillier days.

Stunning rooms complement the dining areas, with guests able to stay the night and enjoy a home-cooked breakfast before heading back. There's room hire and whole venue hire for engagements, weddings, birthdays, retirement, or receptions.

As professional party planners, Ashley and Alex can take the strain of organising any additional suppliers like florists, photographers, and cars so guests have the option of a hands-on or a hands-off service but always with the same delicious food and warm hospitality.

Worthing, the Ultimate Holiday Destination

Not just for those in the know, Worthing offers foreign visitors a unique slice of English seaside and country life combined with a warm and attentive hospitality.

Orchid House offers exclusive all-inclusive luxury experiences for overseas guests with collection from London Gatwick or London Heathrow and a personalised itinerary showcasing the best of this special area - town, country, coastline, and, of course, food & drink.

A Truly Unique Space in Worthing

Superlatives are so overused when it comes to food. Ashley and Alex buck modern cuisine trends and produce distinctive traditional and contemporary dishes with flair, flavour, and a real emphasis on local produce.

At Orchid House, the food is homemade and unpretentious, with gourmet flavours and tastes. This is a destination for foodies and anyone who enjoys the taste of great food, and there are exclusive tasting events to showcase new menus and dishes.

Orchid House has a stylish yet homely atmosphere, with a level of comfort and hospitality that just works for intimate dinners, celebrations, and parties. It's a flexible venue with indoor and outdoor areas that lend themselves to all types of gatherings.

The holiday experiences are a unique feature demonstrating Ashley and Alex's passion and originality in every aspect of this business.

Worthing is a vibrant and colourful old new town with cocktail bars, microbreweries, resident artists, a local artist's hub, and an annual festival of contemporary circus and theatre with plenty of outdoor performances. There is a stunning restored Art Deco pier and theatre, a parish with the only known reproduction of the Sistine Chapel ceiling in the world, and the beach is refreshingly uncrowded.

The atmosphere is intimate and alluring and with a chic and unique addition like Orchid House, Worthing has become an unexpected trove of untapped treasure on the South coast worth visiting.
